Crossroads Christian Academy is opening its doors for the
2008-2009 school year for Mobile and Baldwin County families who wish to homeschool. It is our prayer that we are a ministry to the families who choose to join.
CCA has several events in planning stages for those who choose to join. We are going to provide two banquets a year for the familes. One will be held during Christmas time to celebrate the birth of Christ. The second will be held at the end of the school year in order to provide the familes a time to celebrate their child, or children's, accomplishments throughout the school year. CCA is also going to provide field trips for the families as well as park days. This will allow the families time out of the house and also a chance for the children to interact with one another.
CCA is only going to require the families to provide what the state requires by law. This means that attendance is all that you will have to send in once a month. Grades are an
option for the familes if you would like for them to be stored in another place as a backup. Again this is only an option
not a requirement. We also will not require the families to use a particular kind of curriculum. It is the family's responsibility to choose how they are you going to educate their children. It is our hope that we will be able to provide a library to use if they are searching for curriculum to use. We also are not going to require testing for the children. We believe that our responsiblity is to provide a cover for the familes as
only required by the Alabama state law. If you would like to have testing on your child we can provide you with information but not the actual testing.
CCA also strongly encourages all of its members to enroll in HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Association). If you are not familiar with HSLDA please go to their website
hslda.org. This a wonderful team of Legal experts who can assist in many areas of homeschooling.
